On applicability of differential mixing rules for statistically homogeneous and isotropic dispersions

چکیده
The classical differentialmixing rules are assumed to be independent effective-medium approaches, applicable to certain classes of systems. In the present work, the inconsistency of differentialmodels formacroscopically homogeneous and isotropic systems is illustratedwith amodel for the effective permittivity of simple dielectric systems of impenetrable balls. The analysis is carried out in terms of the compact group approach reformulated in away that allows one to analyze the role of different contributions to the permittivity distribution in the system. It is shown that the asymmetrical Bruggemanmodel (ABM) is physically inconsistent since the electromagnetic interaction between previously added constituents and those being added is replaced by the interaction of the latter with recursively formed effectivemedium. The overall changes in the effective permittivity due to addition of one constituent include the contributions fromboth constituents and depend on the system structure before the addition. Ignoring the contribution fromone of the constituents, we obtain generalized versions of the original ABMmixing rules. They still remain applicable only in a certain concentration ranges, as is shownwith theHashin-Shtrikman bounds. The results obtained can be generalized tomacroscopically homogeneous and isotropic systemswith complex permittivities of constituents.

Buckling Analysis of Panels and Comparative Study on ABS and DNV Rules
In this study, buckling analysis of panel types of marine and offshore structural components with initial imperfection under the combined action of lateral pressure and axial compression is carried out. The governing differential equations for thin and moderately thick shells are developed in terms of components of the displacement field. The governing ordinary differential equations are then d...
متن کاملThree-dimensional Free Vibration Analysis of a Transversely Isotropic Thermoelastic Diffusive Cylindrical Panel
The present paper is aimed to study an exact analysis of the free vibrations of a simply supported, homogeneous, transversely isotropic, cylindrical panel based on three-dimensional generalized theories of thermoelastic diffusion. After applying the displacement potential functions in the basic governing equations of generalized thermoelastic diffusion, it is noticed that a purely transverse mo...
متن کاملThe Buckling of Non-Homogeneous Truncated Conical Shells under a Lateral Pressure and Resting on a Winkler Foundation
In this paper, the buckling of non-homogeneous isotropic truncated conical shells under uniform lateral pressure and resting on a Winkler foundation is investigated. The basic relations and governing equations have been obtained for non-homogeneous truncated conical shells. The critical uniform lateral pressures of non-homogeneous isotropic truncated conical shells with or without a Winkler fou...
متن کاملA meshless discrete Galerkin method for solving the universe evolution differential equations based on the moving least squares approximation
In terms of observational data, there are some problems in the standard Big Bang cosmological model. Inflation era, early accelerated phase of the evolution of the universe, can successfully solve these problems. The inflation epoch can be explained by scalar inflaton field. The evolution of this field is presented by a non-linear differential equation. This equation is considered in FLRW model...
متن کاملRheological Response and Validity of Viscoelastic Model Through Propagation of Harmonic Wave in Non-Homogeneous Viscoelastic Rods
This study is concerned to check the validity and applicability of a five parameter viscoelastic model for harmonic wave propagating in the non-homogeneous viscoelastic rods of varying density. The constitutive relation for five parameter model is first developed and validity of these relations is checked. The non-homogeneous viscoelastic rods are assumed to be initially unstressed and at rest....
